How to Price Spray Tan Services in 2026

Spray tan pricing varies 2–3x across US cities. Underpricing is the most common new-artist mistake. Here is how to price for your market.

  1. Step 1

    Survey 10 nearby competitors

Search 'spray tan near me' on Google Maps from your studio location. Open the Bronzly booking page (or competitor booking page) of the top 10 results. Record the standard classic spray tan price from each. Throw out the highest and lowest; the median is your market baseline.

  2. Step 2

Set your classic spray tan at +5–15% above market median

New artists typically underprice by 20–30% to win clients. This trains the local market to expect cheap tans from you and is hard to reverse. Price at +5–15% above median to signal quality from day one — clients reading reviews assume higher price equals better artist.

  3. Step 3

    Build the upsell ladder

Standard menu: Classic (8-hour, medium DHA) at base price; Rapid (1–4 hour) at +$10–$15; Dark (12% DHA) at +$10; Competition (14%+ multi-coat) at +$40–$60. Add-ons: contour sculpting +$15, body scrub pre-tan +$20, oil-based aftercare bottle +$22.

  4. Step 4

Set membership pricing 25–35% below per-tan retail

1-tan/month membership at 25% off single-tan price; 2-tans/month at 30% off; 4-tans/month (unlimited) at 35% off. Memberships convert best when the breakeven is 1.5 tans — clients commit because the math is obvious.

  5. Step 5

    Add a deposit policy

Require $25 deposit at booking, $50 no-show fee. Deposits collapse no-show rate from 12–18% to 2–4%. The deposit applies to the service total when the client shows up.

  6. Step 6

    Premium-price party and event bookings

Bridal parties, prom groups, bachelorette events: charge per-person rate at standard price for the first 4 guests, then 10–15% per-person discount on guests 5+. Mobile party bookings: add 25–50% premium for travel + setup.

  7. Step 7

    Re-price every 6 months

Spray tan demand is seasonal (peaks: April-June for prom/wedding, October-December for holidays). Raise prices 5–10% every 6 months as your review count and Google ranking grow. Existing members are grandfathered for the duration of their current term.
